GiGi’s Playhouse is a non-profit organization committed to Down syndrome education and awareness. GiGi’s Playhouse centers provide resources, specialized teaching, and support to individuals with Down syndrome and all the people that love them! These centers evolved into educational centers with a focus on National awareness for Down syndrome. All GiGi’s Playhouses programs are free to families and are therapeutic in nature. Each of them are designed to work on specific skill development in several areas including speech and language, social development, and fine and gross motor skills.
In just 5 years, 5 Playhouses have opened, and the influence of GiGi’s Playhouses continues to grow. GiGi’s is committed to the important mission of spreading positive and accurate information about Down syndrome through education by helping individuals with Down syndrome reach their highest potential. The end result is intended to completely change the modern perception of Down Syndrome and improve the quality of life for all of us.
Sioux City’s Playhouse has a couple of upcoming events to increase the funding and awareness of down syndrome.

Come to down to Wine Styles at Lakeport Commons on July 30th for a Fundraiser to help with Down syndrome awareness. The fundraiser is a chance to enjoy great wine while learning a little more about it in the process. Meet up with old friends and make some new ones while coming together to support GiGi’s Playhouse.
The Gigis Playhouse & Winestyles Fundraiser will be held on July 30th from 5 to 8 pm. GiGi’s Playhouse is looking for a $20 donation per person. Winestyles is located in Lakeport Commons, Sioux City, IA.

The Siouxland Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness is a local gem of GiGi’s Playhouse’s events. With a $10 registration, participants are given a T-shirt, admittance to the Kid Zone (which will have games, tattoos, bounce houses and lots of FUN!) and event activities. This is just one of over 250 Awareness Walks nationwide. At the Walk, the objective is to celebrate each and every person’s life, including with the use of personal posters placed along the walking path!
So don’t be shy; come join in the celebration on Saturday, August 28 at Chris Larsen Shelter in Sioux City, IA.
